There are many hidden stories in Northbrook. One is the history of a huge farm once located at the corner of Sanders and Willow roads whose land now is occupied by the Tri-State Tollway, single and multifamily residences, Allstate Insurance, forest preserves, CVS/Caremark, Astellas Pharma US, Inc., Mariano’s Fresh Market and various other retailers.

Purchased in the 1920s by Melville N. Rothschild of Glencoe, the original 329-acre farm stretched from Techny Road to south of Willow Road and from west of Sanders Road to Landwehr Road.
