One of the most enjoyable things that happens at the Northbrook Historical Society is when someone reaches back into their memories and shares a story or two with us.
One such story was told by the late Emil Bucher. He grew up near what became the Glenview Naval Air Station. However, what he had to share was not about the planes buzzing overhead but of his excitement when he heard his parents and neighbors discussing a proposed park to be built a few blocks from his rural home.
